"Well-read people are less likely to be evil." - Lemony SnicketFinally done with Snicket’s thirteen installments of A Series of Unfortunate Events. It had been a grueling journey for the Baudelaire orphans but I believe it’s not yet the end of their story. The series left me hanging on a cliff and just like the orphans, the answers left me with more questions. Dear Mr. Snicket, can my brain just jump on a cliff and die by itself? I want to sleep peacefully.

I'm Chasing My Dreams (Yay!)
Some time last week, I took a time off from work to pave way for that thing I've been dreaming for since college: CPA firms (also known as Accountancy/Auditing firms). I'm still at the season of praying and asking God where He'll lead me after passing the board exams though I'm really believing to work in one of the Big Four firms. And yes, I'll be taking a pre-employment exam at SGV on Friday. Someone told me that I look so excited when I was telling her that news. Haha. I'm just excited where He will take me. And actually, I can't help but be amazed with the fact that I have finally come at this point. I mean, after all that I went through, I never actually thought that even stepping into the reception hall to pass my resume would even be possible. Indeed, it is God who has made this possible for me. Kilig lang kasi talaga.

Not Only A Son
"The angel of the Lord appeared to her and said, 'You are barren and childless, but you are going to become pregnant and give birth to a son...You will become pregnant and have a son whose head is never to be touched by a razor because the boy is to be a Nazirite, dedicated to God from the womb. He will take the lead in delivering Israel from the hands of the Philistines.'" (Judges 13: 3,5)The story predicts of Samson's birth. Samson's mother (referred to in the story as Manoah's wife), was childless and probably, have been waiting for one for too long. Then, here comes an angel who brought a good news, "You'll have a son. One who will lead in delivering Israel from Philistines..."
The catch in the angel's news isn't the birth of a son. If it is, he could have said, "You know what, woman, you'll have a son." Period. But no, after telling her that she'll bear a son, he immediately told her that he has a special calling - he'll be set apart for God and will begin the deliverance from Philistines. God will give her not just a son but rather, a special son.
Then it dawned upon me, our God isn't out there to give us mediocre gifts! He is out there to give us His best! James 1:17 says, "Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows."
So have you been praying for someone or something and it's taking too long? Don't fret. Instead, have faith. Knowing that our God is an excellent giver makes all the waiting worth it.
